Elana Shvalbe is a first generation Canadian-born designer, artist and cook currently based in New York. Her practice is based on a thoughtful and researched approach to crafting bespoke furniture and objects. Each collection expresses itself like a folktale as she seamlessly draws upon familial narratives from her Israeli/Ukranian upbringing, reinterpreting familiar forms into warm and engaging furniture, tableware and lighting design. Through a deep connection to the world of food and hospitality, Elana uses her experience to create objects that celebrate human connection.
Elana received her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design’s Furniture Department. She has exhibited with NYCxDesign, Wanted Design Manhattan as well as with galleries in both the US and Canada.
